BL Series

I've recently fallen into binging Asian Boys' Love series, which is a genre of media that are gay male love stories, written for a straight woman audience. The result is often cheesy romantic series of boys, who can initially identify as anything other than gay, falling in love with each other. The ones I've seen so far, rarely dive into anything sexual, really putting the focus on the relationship building of the characters.

I have no idea why I have taken such a liking to this but I will not fight it. Researching titles, I have found close to 150 different series or movies in this genre so far with many being made this year to come. I don't know if I will watch them all. There have already been a couple I've started that I just didn't finish because I was not liking them. But with many that I expect I will see, I want to try to take this as an opportunity to practice more writing. A review? My thoughts? Not sure, but with this many titles, I would expect if I was consistent, I will develop some voice or style. 

I've watched the following titles so far so I am going to pause any further viewings to write something here about each of these. They may require re-viewing.

What...the fuck am I doing?

It is 2021. I have been talking about being a writer for more than a decade. Recently, I discovered that one of the reasons I have not been doing any writing is that I have a lingering issue from growing up a G/T kid. Everything used to come so easily to me and I was always immediately praised or rewarded. Writing, and really anything creative, at my age now is a skill I actually have to work to be any good. How I'd have made a Wonder Woman sequel...

A lot of people seem to want to join the chorus of dumping on WW84 and I don't necessarily want to do that even though there are MANY points I agree with. But if I was given creative control, there are some things I would have done or changed.  I wasn't quite sure what the significance of being in 1984 was but another prequel coming after BvS, where Diana mentioned she left the "World of Man" and this being VERY clear that she was active in that world, was problematic. There was no real glaring significance of this story being in 1984 other than to maybe highlighting or giving time-period context to Maxwell Lord's motivations in some attempt to show the cliché of rich, scheming business people of the 80s? Really not sure but I would have probably just made the story in present day/post-JL.  I would have had the story leave off a few months or so after Justice League with Diana gaining a little more presence and notoriety in the world.
